After the Fire
I am stocked to sit in the after glow of the big day. From my vantage point, something was touched in the hearts of the guys who attended. I am not as concerned as to how those outside feel about the event as much as those who attend. It is in the moment of encounter that real transformation takes place.
It was the feed back during the Q and A that I saw the real deal go down. Guys need to participate, Guys needs to break down the walls between leaders and laity. That is what Godmen is all about-access to power, access to the voice of the church, access to setting the agenda by their own engagement.
This is a bottom up revolution. The laity are coming. The laity are coming.

Thanks for your comments, I'm still trying to get a feel for this movement. But I don't get the closing "The layity are coming ...."

I too, have felt like a misfit in my churh experiences. I have not softened my out-of-church language and manerisms and have never been trusted or by the leadership of body at large.

They tend to roll there eyes and patronize me. Don't get me wrong, they like and enjoy me but they treat me like I never matured in my walk because I don't talk and act like them.

Hope to see you in March, I'll be the guy with a whistle, a smart-ass remark and fire for living and God that will blow you away.

Again my comments in bold... enjoy!

"I am stocked to sit in the after glow of the big day. From my vantage point, something was touched in the hearts of the guys who attended."

Okay but just because people were touched doesnt mean it was good or biblical, just that it was "touching" (but obviously in a manly way).

"I am not as concerned as to how those outside feel about the event as much as those who attend. It is in the moment of encounter that real transformation takes place."

What transformation are you talking about? There are many types, but the most relevant and important is the transformation/santification of a Christian as they submitt and humble themselves before God, where it spurs them on to holiness and doing His will.

Is this what happened at the event?

"It was the feed back during the Q and A that I saw the real deal go down. Guys need to participate..."

Participate in what? You use the term like it means something, but when in all actuality the importance is not that we participate but in WHAT we participate in - IOW is what we are doing, does it lift up God or the ways of selfish men.

"Guys needs to break down the walls between leaders and laity."

Ummm... The biggest break down I see with most "christian" men is that they are too prideful to submit to God and do what He commands (leaders and laity alike). If you are a "laity" and your obeying His word and your pastor/leader is also doing the same, there is no wall to break down.

Now its true that some "leaders" put on airs that they are better than the laity, but more often than not (at least in my experience) is a wall between the clergy and laity is one of sin and or obedience. Those that cling to their sin wont hang around those that confess and follow God.

That is what Godmen is all about-access to power, access to the voice of the church, access to setting the agenda by their own engagement.

Sounds like doublespeak to me... its full of something but you cant quite put your finger on anything. Without the George Orwell "1984" doublespeak handbook you cant really understand what was just said, but let me try to explain it...

"Godmen is all about-access to power..."

What power are you talking about exactly?

The power of men or the power of God that works thru men? If anyone submits, repents, confesses and follows Christ, then He will give them power to do His will, which will have eternal and powerful results. Anything other than that will pass away. So which is it? Its hard to tell when you dont define or explain further.

"... access to the voice of the church"

What is your defintion of "voice of the church"?

If your church is not voicing the gospel message, then why would you want to voice anything else? If you want access just because your a "man", then you have a lot of learning and spiritual growning up to do.

The voice of the church is anyone (male or female; young or old) who will declare what Christ has done thru His good news.

"... access to setting the agenda by their own engagement"

What the heck is this supposed to mean? This sounds like the North Korean propoganda I heard when I was stationed on the DMZ - a lot of jibberjabber, but it doesnt really stand for anything or talk about truth (the bible). Ummm...

First, what agenda are you talking about? God's or man's. If its man's agenda, I dont want any part of it.

Second, "setting the agenda"... the bible has already set and proclaimed His agenda, this statement seems to point to something else (correct me if I am wrong).

Third, this "by their own engagement" is so wishy-washy its not even funny. The sad part is that lots of men will not even question this or similar statements. My question is what type of engagement are we talking about? Whatever it is, if it lifts up God then great, but if it lifts up men (and their "own" testosterone) then that is a big clue that something could be seriously wrong.

"This is a bottom up revolution."

Actually a revolution is never from the bottom (here is another example of Godmen trying to make up their own defintions again - watch out).

A real revolution is started by a "revolutionary". For real christians, the revolutionary is Jesus Christ, and its against sin and the power it has on people's lives.

The problem with godmen is that it's revolutionary is man's testosterone (I really hope it is not Brad Stine); and its goal is taking back the church (and from women). Well surprise godmen, the church is not yours to take back, its God's! It is not a thing to be had, but a place to worship God, get equiped and where we are sent out to do His will. Anything other than that is rejection of Christ and His call to obedience.

These are hard words I know, but ones that should be heard. Be careful when you call for a revolution, especially when its not based on what God has given us as seen in His word (the bible), and thru His son, Jesus Christ.

"The laity are coming. The laity are coming."
    David Bunker

Well David, I hope the laity are coming.

I hope the laity are coming to Christ. I hope the laity are coming to repent and seek forgiveness from God. I hope the laity are coming out from the world to be holy as God commanded. I hope the laity are coming to get equiped for every good work. I hope the laity come to the world and spread the gospel and live the example that Christ gave us all.

If they are coming to take pride about their manhood, leave me out.
